It is time to change our jobs!

I should stop saying, how many days we are staying in towns. Instead of 2 days, it turned into almost 5 days in Whanganui. Reason for that were the damn friendly locals from the city. Eule and Torte visited the beach and on their return, they passed a large building. Eule asked Yohan, a french artist, if it would be possible to have a look around. He asked the guy who lived there and he said “yes” and both were on fire. It turned out that the guy, Jack, is the artist for the driftwood sculptures which you can find in National Park Village and Taumarunui. Later on they met the couple, Ross and Bobby, who offered them a place to stay for a while. When they arrived back in the hostel, completely wired, they told me the whole story and we decide of course to stay here a little bit long than planned. Another reason was also the “Whanganui Vintage Festival” with live bands, food courts and a little market.

Whanganui treated us very very well. The festival was awesome, the food delicious, the music was a real treat and all the people were so amazing. Especially Ross and Bobby. Thanks a lot guys. You so amazing and it was a pleasure to meet you both. After 5 days we got back on the trail, I mean road of course. Again. I hope, New Zealand is doing something in that case. It is such a pity that the biggest parts take place on the roads. It isn’t only frustrating to lick our wound in the evening, counting cars all the time, but also fucking dangerous to hike next to the state highway.

The next part was really enjoyable. Our first beach walk on our journey with a length of 8 km. We arrived exactly in time. The low tide gave us the possibility to walk on the beach, which you couldn’t see because of all the driftwoods. The random arrangement was just unique and after the next tide, nothing will be left like that anymore. An artist by itself. Additionally, we decide to change our careers. We want to be a garbageman. We started to pick up some litte plastic parts and ended up with 2,5 large trash bags full of trash, which we had to carry for while to the main street. We begged a friendly kiwi to take the bags to the next city. Hopefully he will not throw it into the sea again.

The next days were very easy. All the towns were so close to each other, that we just need one day of food. We crossed Bulls, Feilding and got eventually to Pamerston North. We set up our camp at the campground and visited the Monteih’s Brewhouse. There we taste all kinds of beer in order to make our wallet a bit lighter. The next 5 days, we will be in the bush again and had to buy a lot of  food. Just the thought about all the tasteful food, make our backs hurt. Break a leg!
